Individual Assignment - Channel Bumper

Project 1 Brief:

Timeframe: Week 05 -Week 07

Deadline: Week 07

Description: Students are to demonstrate ability to explore and generate an abstract channel bumper in any creative approach with consideration of good audio tempo and isually compelling video.

Requirements: Students are expected to:

- use information for any proposed channel (*existing or fictional)

- create mmod board that reflects their concept/idea

- prepare style guide that conveys final look & feel

- create a storyboard

- create animatics

-  explore appropriate audio to uplift the motion tempo 

Students will start with sketch and test a wide range of ideas through digitization using appropriate software. Students conclude by selecting and presenting their personal design interpretation in the instructed format/s. Students do reflective writing in the academic blog. 

Submission: Compiled all techical document (mood board, style guide, sketches, storyboard, technical processes) in the academic blog (i.e., e-portfolio).

Final output will include a 10-15 second video (.mp4, 16:9 - 1440 x 1080, 25 fps) uploaded to YouTube channel as unlisted video.

Week 6

After doing some research, I come up with some ideas that insipred me. I intended to do about my favorite kpop idol, Seventeen. The reason why I chose to creat this channel bumper is because I want to promote the album Semicolon by Seventeen and also want to increase the view of the MV. I also want to spread the meaning behind the lyrics of the song which conveys the message of support for youth who run endlessly. Semicolon [;] represent a brief pause and moment to take a breath, exchanging laughter with one another even amidst the hardships.

Then, I proceed with the mood board. These are the mood board that I created to help me or guide me on how can I proceed with the art style, typography, color scheme and overall overview of my channel bumper.

Color Scheme

This is the color that I chose which is suitable for the theme of my channel bumper.

 

Typography

I decided to choose Sloop Script Pro font at Canva and CoreSan at CapCut as the main font style that will be used in my video. In addition, I also used Romantic font at Capcut.

Video Reference:

This is some references that I used to create the style, effect and animation for my channel bumper. 

Audio:

For the audio of my video, I decided to use the Home: Run Official Teaser 1 and Teaser 2 which it suitable for my video. I have combined these two audio and cut which part I wanted to use by using Audacity. 

Week 7

Storyboard:

This is my storyboard ideas for my Channel Bumper which it is explain how the flow of it.

Editing Process:

After done with my storyboard, I proceeded with my editing process based on my storyboard. During my editing process, I used Canva and the CapCut application to complete my video.

For the first scene or the opening of my video, I decided to use cassette tape at Canva Animation as my background like my storyboard was. 

Then, I decided to use some clips from the MV itself.

For this scene, i used the spiral retro background, and the appearance of the baseball was created using the Match & Move transition to make the baseball scene smoother. After that, i combined it with other scene at CapCut.

After that, for the background in this scene, I also used the MV clip of Home Run by using the glitch effect as the main reason for the concept I want to make is like Retro style. As for the font, I have used the loop scrolling animation. 

In this scene I decided to add some information which is the tracklist of the album. Also, I used the glitch effect at this scene.

The last scene, I edited it first at Canva before editing it at CapCut. The background of this scene is the diamond because it is related to the story of the MV. Also, I have added the date of the album was released and using the Snow Glith and Black Noise effect at CapCut.

Final outcome:

This is the final outcome of my channel bumper and have been uploaded to my Youtube under an unlisted account.

Reflection:

At this, I feel like this project was challenging and thoughtful. It took me a while to create of channel bumper that I wanted. I keep exploring and learning how to make a video. Also, I have to find some inspiration for my channel bumper. In the end, I decided to make my channel bumper about my favorite K-pop group, Seventeen. Not only that I also have to learn how to make the video to the concept's expectations. At first, I wanted to make it through After Effect, but due to the date or timeframe of this project, I decided just to use Canva and CapCut because it really took me time to learn it. Through this project, I have discovered many things about how we want to make a video. For example, the use of a color scheme that is suitable for the video, what kind of font style is suitable, and even how we make the transition and effect for the video as well as for the rhythm for the audio. 

 Through making this project, I realized, I was enjoying and happy throughout making this project despite many challenges but I still managed to do it till the end. I'm glad that I was able to figure it out. 

And the most proud thing is that I have used my favorite artist in making this assignment. I hope that in the future I will make the best out of this.
