Individual Assignment - Channel Ident

Project 1 Brief: 

Timeframe: Week 08 -Week 10

Deadline: Week 10

Description: Students are continue with previously chosen channel in Individual Assignment 1 to create a channel ident motion graphic video. 

Requirements: Student are expected to:

- use information for any proposed channel (*existing or fictional)

- create mmod board that reflects their concept/idea

- prepare style guide that conveys final look & feel

- create a storyboard

- create animatics

-  explore appropriate audio to uplift the motion tempo 

Students will start with sketch and test a wide range of ideas through digitization using appropriate software. Students conclude by selecting and presenting their personal design interpretation in the instructed format/s. Students do reflective writing in the academic blog. 

Submission: Compiled all techical document (mood board, style guide, sketches, storyboard, technical processes) in the academic blog (i.e., e-portfolio).

Final output will include a 10-15 second video (.mp4, 16:9 - 1440 x 1080, 25 fps) uploaded to YouTube channel as unlisted video.

Channel Ident for K-pop group, Seventeen.

Channel Information

Seventeen is a K-pop boy group that consist of thirteen members: S.coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino.

Seventeen is considered a "self-producing" idol group, with the members involved in songwriting, music production, and choreographing among other aspects of their music and performances.

The name Seventeen is delivered from the expression "13 members + 3 units (Vocal Unit, Hip Hop Unit, Performances Unit) + 1 group".

Semicolon is a Special Album by Seventeen that was released on October 19, 2020, with Home;Run serving as the title track. 

Aim of the Channel Identity:

In addition to introducing Seventeen, I also want to spread information about this Semicolon Album. ;[Semicolon] is an album that spreads a message of support for youth who run endlessly. With Home; Run as the title track of this album it can give a lot of strength, healing, and consolation to everyone. Home; Run is an exciting and fun song. In simple terms, this song about being strong and not giving up. It features a swing-based style and instrumental that is loaded with energy and retro vibes.

Then, I proceed with the mood board. These are the mood boards that I created to help me or guide me on how can I proceed with the art style, typography, color scheme, and overall overview of my channel ident.

I decided to choose Hey August font, Amity, and Playfairdispalay font at Capcut which I think it is suitable to use for my video concept.

Video Reference:

This is some references that I used to create the style, effect, and animation for my channel ident. 

Audio:

For the audio of my video, I decided to use the Home: Run Official Teaser 1 and Teaser 2 which it suitable for my video. I have combined these two audio and cut which part I wanted to use by using Audacity.

This is my storyboard idea for my Channel Ident which it is explains how the flow of it.

Week 10

Editing Process:

After done with my storyboard, I proceeded with my editing process based on my storyboard. During my editing process, I used the CapCut application to complete my video. 

For the first scene or the opening of my video, I used the split slide animation of the photo that I used at CapCut. As for the effect I'm decided to use retro, color film. I also have to use the light effect as it fits the concept I want. As for the font, I'm using the scrolling text animation. 

Scene 2: 

I have used the slide up and down for each photo. And then for the font I used the same technique as Scene 1. The animation that I used for the font was two. The first was in throw-out animation and then loop scrolling animation. In the last part of scene two, I added the retro burst effect to my video. 

Scene 3:

Same as for scene 2. I have used slide-up-and-down animation for the photos. After that, the font was using loop scrolling animation and I also used retro burst effect on it. 

Scene 4:

I have used the same technique of animation, the effect and font for this scene also similliar with scene 2 and scene 3. 

Scene 5:

 After that, for the background in this scene, I also used the MV clip of Home Run (Special Video) by using the glitch effect as the main reason for the concept I want to make is like Retro style. As for the font, I have used the Amity type font at CapCut, and the animation I used color glitch and in blur zoom out animation.

Scene 6:

As for the last scene, I have used the Amity and Playfairdisplayfont type. Then i have used in grow animation for the font to show up. 

Final outcome:

This is the final outcome of my channel ident and has been uploaded to my YouTube under an unlisted account. 

Reflection:

This Channel Ident is a continuation of Channel Bumper where I have made about my favorite artist which is SEVENTEEN. I can find out what motion graphics is that is always used in making videos, the concept of typography and so on that I did not know before.I have learned many new things while doing this assignment.Through making this project, I realized, I was enjoying and happy throughout making this project despite many challenges but I still managed to do it till the end. I'm glad that I was able to figure it out. And the most proud thing is that I have used my favorite artist in making this assignment. I hope that in the future I will make the best out of this.
